It’s National Dog on a Lead Day!

18th, Jul 2022 General News

Here are just a few of many considerations to take when walking a dog on a lead:

????Great care should be taken when using Flexi-leads while walking on public roads. You must ensure that the locking mechanism is secure to prevent the dog from being able to walk/run off into the road, potentially injuring itself and other road users

????Flexi-leads can also cause injury if the dog becomes entangled in the excess lead or it becomes wrapped around trees, legs, and other objects

????Always take a spare lead with you on in case one malfunctions

????Always use the appropriate lead for your dog's breed and behavior

????Always keep your dog on a lead around livestock (ideally 2 meters in length)

????There have been recent concerns around the attendance of dogs at Equestrian events due to the control of dogs. Dogs should be kept under close control at all times

????Never wrap the lead around your hand to avoid injury to the handler
